Long Post -Acts 19

Would like to add a blog post space to just the Admin page-yet hopefully i can link this post to the Admin page.

Since that post took so long to make, i am very grateful for the ability to post it simultaneously on all 4 sites (WP, FB, G+ and Twit(ter) 🙂

Making the post, brought up a few other permanent pages that need to be added to this website…

Delighted yet OVERWHELMED, i reminded myself that i just put in A LOT of work (this is why Target Process? you are great and all, but you need to hook up with something that ALREADY times what i do online (for me RescueTime), especially since i’m already PAYING for it.

Dealing with formulating a post is a full job within itself. Something i desire someone else to do it-like a dictation secretary. I’d rattle off ideas or someone would just record me rattling off something about this very subject, remind me of what i want to be reminded of…for having to WRITE IT DOWN, can be too much trouble.

So i think i need a voice activated recording machine, but then it would need to be an A.I. to assimilate it into cohesive thought and to do’s, etc.

A personal assistant, web and data processor (2 different jobs), someone to find these people for me, a fundraiser (grant writer?), a chef/cook-or just the finances to order…

Especially when dealing with/communicating/listening to the Holy Spirit…more is taken (and received) , energy, than with other activities. One needs to replenish, with material food, relax, take a break/vacation/family etc…after such. (like a real good session with the HS (Holy Spirit) at church. (which reminds me of the need to explain/outline TREATMENT of the Holy Spirit-some misconceptions and understandings, clarified-like: cavalier? NO WAY!…and how i utilize HS and how YOU would…are TWO VERY different things…for the spirit of whatever we do is more important (ones ATTITUDE), than ANYTHING else…which brings us to perception and Christians not as strong as i (includes the idiots who get UGLY in condemning my usage of HS…which is why certain PERSONAL things between thyself and Christ/Elohim/the Holy Spirit are NOT to be shared with others!)

AAAH! There is SO MUCH! To be conveyed and i’m impatient to have human help to do so! :-)…:-p 😀

Acts 19

Paul at Ephesus

19 It happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples. He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said to him, “No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” And they said, “Into John’s baptism.” Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying. There were in all about twelve men.

And he entered the synagogue and continued speaking out boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God. But when some were becoming hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the people, he withdrew from them and took away the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.10(3) This took place for two years, so that all who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.

Miracles at Ephesus

11 God was performing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul,12 so that handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out. 13 But also some of the Jewish exorcists, who went from place to place, attempted to name over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, “I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.14 Seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. 15 And the evil spirit answered and said to them, “I recognize Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?” 16 And the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaped on them and subdued all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. 17 This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived in Ephesus; and fear fell upon them all and the name of the Lord Jesus was being magnified.18(4) Many also of those who had believed kept coming, confessing and disclosing their practices. 19(1-2) And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of everyone; and they counted up the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20 So the word of the Lord was growing mightily and prevailing.

Acts Footnotes

(1)19:13 These Jews traveled from town to town making a living by claiming to heal and drive out demons. (Exorcists) Often they would recite a whole list of names in their incantation to be sure of including the right deity. Here they were trying to use Jesus’ name in an effort to match Paul’s power

(2)19:13-16 Many Ephesians engaged in exorcism and occult practices for profit (see 19:18-19) [just like today!-R812]. The sons of Sceva were impressed by Paul’s work, whose power to drive out demons came from God’s Holy Spirit, not from witchcraft, and was obviously more powerful than theirs. They discovered, however, that no one can control or duplicate God’s power. These men were calling on the name of Jesus without knowing the person. The power to change people comes from Christ. It cannot be tapped by reciting his name like a magic charm. God works his power only through those he chooses.

(3)19:10 “Asia” refers to Asia Minor or modern-day Turkey.

(4)19:18-19 Ephesus was a center for black magic and other occult practices. The people cooked up magical formulas to give them wealth, happiness, and success in marriage. Superstition and sorcery were commonplace [just like today-R812]. God clearly forbids such practices (Deuteronomy 18:9-13). You cannot be a believer and hold on to the occult, black magic, or sorcery. Once you begin to dabble in these areas, it is extremely easy to become obsessed [addicted-R812] by [to-R812] them because Satan is very powerful [because we have left Elohim, Return!-R812]. but God’s power is even greater (1 John 4:4; Revelation 20:10). If you are mixed up in the occult, learn a lesson from the Ephesians and get rid of anything that could keep you trapped in such practices. [Getting rid of them is not enough, one must also sever ties with it verbally (Breaking (Negative) Soul Ties, Covenants/Agreements)

THE HOLY SPIRIT

“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”Luke 11:13

Imagine the Christian movement in your country suddenly cut off from all those who are now its leaders! In the period of confusion that immediately follows a takeover, some small groups of Christians may be able to move to a different locality and become underground churches, but they must leave their “institutional forms” behind.

But who would lead such groups? Who would provide leadership for “house” churches and “family” churches? God, through the Holy Spirit, would raise up and equip leaders for His church in such circumstances, as He always had in the past. The members of a home fellowship must be prepared to accept the leadership of the Spirit and of those through whom He chooses to minister.

When regular lay Christians actually begin to understand that they can pray directly to the Lord, when they can take a passage of Scripture, written or memorized, and understand it under the direction of the Holy Spirit, they are then on the road to surviving victoriously in whatever set of hostile circumstances that may come along. One exciting discovery will lead to another. These Christians will begin to let the Holy Spirit use them to touch the lives of others and minister to their needs. No authority on earth can destroy this kind of spiritual church!

In China, a Christian woman was in charge of security at a coal mine. The woman suddenly felt the Holy Spirit urging her to pull the alarm lever, even though there was no apparent reason to do so. Although everything seemed quiet and normal, she obeyed the prompting within her. The whole mine was evacuated as a result of the alarm sounding, but when all the men had assembled on the surface, it seemed as if a huge mistake had been made. Just moments later the ground beneath their feet shook and a large section of the mine collapsed from the earthquake.

Because of this sister’s sensitivity and willingness to obey God’s Holy Spirit, everyone’s life had been saved. Additionally, however, 400 of the miners surrendered their lives to Christ after recognising that God had miraculously saved them from death.[1]

RESPONSE: Today I will thank God for the gift of His Holy Spirit.

PRAYER: Lord, use me today through Your Spirit to touch the lives of others and minister to their needs.

Worship: Busy, Busy, Busy

For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—these, O God, You will not despise.—Psalm 51:16-17

There is all around us, however, a very evident and continuing substitute for worship. I speak of the compelling temptation among Christian believers to be constantly engaged, during every waking hour, in religious activity.

We cannot deny that it is definitely a churchly idea of service. Many of our sermons and much of our contemporary ecclesiastical teaching lean toward the idea that it is surely God’s plan for us to be busy, busy, busy—because it is the best cause in the world in which we are involved.

But if there is any honesty left in us, it persuades us in our quieter moments that true spiritual worship is at a discouragingly low ebb among professing Christians.

Do we dare ask how we have reached this state?…

How can our approach to worship be any more vital than it is when so many who lead us, both in the pulpit and in the pew, give little indication that the fellowship of God is delightful beyond telling? Whatever Happened to Worship?, 26-27.

“Oh Lord, forgive me for so often falling into the ‘busy, busy, busy’ trap. I pray indeed that the people with whom I come into contact today might see that for me ‘the fellowship of God is delightful beyond telling.’ Amen.”
